Abstract

This two-act satire, entitled "A Stitch in Time -or- Yankee Doodle's Progress," is narrated by Poor Richard and stars a young man named Yankee Doodle. It begins in 1775 on Sir Lott of Pott's Virginia plantation and goes on to depict portions of the Revolutionary War and the hardships of life (particularly those faced by women and African-Americans) in early America.

A Walk in the Spring Rain Original Screenplay

Abstract

This collection contains the original screenplay for the 1970 film A Walk in the Spring Rain, directed by Guy Green. The film was apapted from Rachel Maddux's 1966 novel of the same name by screenwriter Stirling Silliphant and starred actors Anthony Quinn and Ingrid Bergman. The film was shot on location in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

A.A. Taylor Report on Pensions for East Tennesseans

Abstract This three-page leaflet presents the text from Alfred A. Taylor's report to the 51st U.S. House of Representatives, to accompany H.R. 13424. It calls for pensions to be provided for the survivors and widows of the group who successfully burned bridges around Knoxville in November of 1861. To justify this request, Taylor recounted the plans and results of that event and then referred to H.R. 7051 that had established pensions for men who had failed in their attempt to burn bridges around...

Abingdon Presbytery Extract of Minutes Regarding Reverend Andrew S. Morrison

This extract from the Abingdon Presbytery's minutes indicates that the Reverend Andrew S. Morrison presented an extract from the Union Presbytery's minutes recording his dismissal from that organization and his instructions to attach himself to the Abingdon Presbytery. Upon presenting the document, Morrison was received as a member in good standing and invited to take his seat.

Abraham Swaggerty Deposition

In this deposition, Abraham Swaggerty testifies that he helped to survey 675 acres of land that the State of North Carolina granted to Robert Reed in 1787. This tract was included in a parcel of which James Corbus and William Murphy disputed ownership.

Absalom Arthur Kyle Papers

Abstract

This collection houses correspondence, appointments, and other official documents related to Absalom Arthur Kyle and his son Hugh Graham Kyle. Hugh Graham Kyle was born on December 27th, 1849 to Absalom and Marry Anne in Rogersville, TN. Hugh followed in his father's footsteps and served as a judge and was a respected member of the Tennessee bar. He died on July 15th, 1927. There are also account books, private records of legal cases, and a cash book.
